Lake Tekapo
A Quick Stopover in a Snowy Wonderland
We set off mid-morning from Christchurch and hit the road to Lake Tekapo. This was just a one-night stopover as we were making our way express to Queenstown. Lake Tekapo is famous for its stunning turquoise waters, breathtaking landscapes, and the incredible starry skies—it's part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, one of the best stargazing spots in the world.
However, when we arrived, we were greeted with an overcast sky and fresh snowfall, which meant we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the stars. But we didn't let that dampen our spirits! Instead, we embraced the snowy scenery, having fun playing in the snow and even making friends with a friendly alpaca!

While there isn’t a plethora of activities in Lake Tekapo, it was a perfect place to rest our feet. Our accommodation offered a lovely view of Mount Cook, making it a serene backdrop for our overnight stay. After recharging, we were ready for our next adventure—heading to our favorite place… Queenstown!
